How easy (or difficult) is it really to live abroad?

Hey Reader!

Have you ever lived abroad before or is it something you’re seriously considering? During these uncertain times, more and more people are choosing to up sticks and live abroad.

Back in 2022 an estimated 471,000 Brits emigrated to other countries, and in 2023 that number rose to 508,000 (according to the Office of National Statistics).

Although Brexit has made emigrating to popular European countries such as Spain a more complicated issue (you need to have a considerable income), a lot of Brits are moving to more exotic countries like Thailand (there are estimated to be 55,000 Brit expats currently living there).

Moving to Thailand is a lot easier than Spain for example, so how easy or difficult moving abroad is all depends on location, location, location.

Although adapting to a completely different culture (and language) is a challenging and often stressful experience for the first few months, it is definitely do-able. The benefits are plentiful as well; from cheaper rent and bills to a more exotic climate proving very attractive to many.

I’ll be exploring this topic further in the coming weeks, spilling the beans with my own story of living abroad in Spain for a year, what I learnt from the experience and more.

Thanks for reading and have a great day,

Mark

My travel stories may sound too unbelievable to be true, but I can assure you they are!
